A US jury has ordered technology giant Apple to pay more than $234m (£152m) in damages for patent infringement.
2015年10月13日美国威斯康辛法院陪审团裁定，苹果（Apple）行动装置使用的A7芯片而侵犯威斯康辛大学（Wisconsin University）技术专利成立。此案将进入损害赔偿金核算阶段，苹果可能得付出数亿美元的天价赔偿金。
「威斯康辛校友研究基金会」（Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation；WARF）是专责管理威斯康辛大学研发成果与专利技术运用，将活用授权金用以支持该校研究。WARF于2014年1月31日提告苹果iPhone内A7芯片，未经授权使用WARF于1998年取得专利的技术，来增加效能与微处理器性能。
本案系争专利US5,781,752 (Table based data speculation circuit for parallel processing computer；用于并行处理计算器之基于表格的数据推测电路)于1996年12月26日提出申请，1998年7月14日获证。
美国威斯康星州法院评审团评决：
5,781,752 claim1,2,3,5,6,9 以优势证据(preponderance of the evidence)评决被告侵权成立。
5,781,752 claim1,2,3,5,6,9 以清楚且令人信服证据(clear and convincing evidence) 评决原告专利无效不成立。
此案侵犯专利的苹果产品包括iPhone 5S、iPad Air、配备Retina显示器的iPad Mini。
WARF曾以本案相同专利于2008年控告英特尔(Intel)，但是，在双方进行完Claim Construction Hearing之后，双方达成和解撤诉。
